  Worshiping Santoshi Maa

Santoshi Mata ,the mother of contentment,is believed to be an incarnation of Mata Durga and is worshiped through out Nepal, India and abroad. Sanotshi Maa is considered to be a daughter of Shree Ganesha.

She is considered to have a calm nature and rewards her followers with happiness and peace in their life Mata Santoshi is a symbol of love, forgiveness, happiness and hope.

It is experienced that worshiping her with fasting for 16 consecutive Fridays brings peace,prosperity and good fortune in ones life. Santoshi Mata blesses  to come out of the crisis with one's determination.

  Pooja Guide

*Do not eat or touch anything sour*

First gather the things required and then start the Pooja.
Things required for the Pooja:

1. Kalash
2. Flowers and Dubo Grass (Cynodon dactylon)
3. Dry whole channa, Sakhhar ad Banana for prasad
4. Camphor for aarti
5. Agarbatti
6. Diyas
7. Photo of santoshi Mata
8. Coconut for kalash (have to continue with the same coconut till you          complete Pooja)
9. A wooden stool for placing the Murti of Santoshi Mata

Santoshi Mata Pooja is usually performed on Fridays for a period of 16 Weeks.
On a Friday morning take full bath and place the photo in a clean area with a small Kalash(sacred pot of brass). Place Santhoshi mata's photo and decorate it with flowers. Keep chana, Sakhhar (Gud) and bananas as prasad.
Light the lamp before the Goddess. Chant the mantras and read the story to all present there.Perform aarti to Mata and distribute the  "Prasada". You can do fasting the entire day or can have food only once in a day (may be supper or dinner). You are not supposed to eat anything sour on the day of the Pooja...

Continue this for 16 or 32 weeks on Fridays, and after you finish you have to do Udyapan, i.e. you have to offer food to kids and not to give them any cash, as they may buy a sour eatable.
