Name: Santoshi Maa
Santoshi Mata or Santoshi Maa is a relatively new goddess in the Hindu pantheon. She is venerated as "the Mother of Satisfaction". the meaning of her name.
Birth:-
The film Jai Santoshi Maa links the birth of Santoshi Mata to the festival of Raksha Bandhan, where a sister ties arakhi string bracelet on her brother's wrist and the brother gifts his sister sweets, gifts and a promise of protection. When Ganesha's sister Manasa celebrates the festival with him, his sons ask Ganesha to grant them a sister. Although Ganesha initially refuses, upon the repeated pleas of his two wives Riddhi and Siddhi, sons, sister and the divine sage Narada, Ganesha creates Santoshi Mata through two flames rising from his wives' breasts. Narada decreed that this mind-born daughter of Ganesha will always fulfil everyone’s desires and thus, would be called Santoshi Maa, the Mother of Satisfaction.
Introduction:-
Santoshi  Santoshi maa is the goddess of patience, She is the daughter of  lord Ganesh. The appearance of this mother goddess took place when the two sons of Mansa devi wanted a sister to tie a rakhi ( sacred string symbolising a bond of love) on their hands. Women pay oaths and seek this goddesses blessings by doing a (vrat) fasting  on Fridays by avoiding sour food  as it is a auspicious day for Santoshi maa.
The goddess came on earth to help her devotees in difficult conditions. When there was a conflict between the three goddessess Parvati Saraswati and Mahalakshmi. Santoshi maa helped her devotees to show how compassionate she was and just as much powerful.
The four armed goddess holds a sword on her  top left, a trident on her top right, her bottom left hand known as the (Abhaya hasta mudra) which showers blessings. She holds a  bowl of kheer (rice pudding) on her bottom right which is the mother godessesses favourite feast.
The Santoshi Mata vrata is to be observed on 16 successive Fridays or till one's wish is fulfilled. The devotee should perform a puja of Santoshi Mata and offer her flowers, incense and a bowl of raw sugar and roasted gur-chana.The devotee should have only one meal during the day and not eat or serve bitter or sour food to others. When one's wish is granted, one should organize audyapan ceremony, where eight boys should be served a festive meal.
